About Us | Inunoo Textiles

Inunoo’s origin began in May of 1969 as an incorporated company to “profitably market authentic Canadian Eskimo (Inuit) graphic art designs interpreted into commercial textile products, namely apparel and accessories”. Designs for printed and knitted fabrics were developed by Doug Mantegna for a line of cruise wear, men’s shirting, and scarves. Styling was done by Canadian fashion designer, Pat McDonagh and sold through major Canadian retailers at the time.

Today Inunoo & Associates, is a sole proprietorship of Doug Mantegna who has developed an extensive line of hand printed silk scarves and ties, fashion accessories and more recently “One of a Kind” hand made carpets in a limited edition representing Inuit artists, Kenojuak Ashevak, Ningiukulu Teevee, Shuvinai Ashoona, Aoudla Pudlat, Napatchie Pootoogook, and Kananginak Pootoogook,Parr, Anirnik Oshuitoq, Sarni Pootoogook,Nictye Samayualie. Sales are supported through Galleries, Museums, upscale craft shops and the Internet. Royalties are paid on all items sold directly to the artists or their estates.
